Passing Uniforms
Written by Smart House Boy

Christmas 2008 also saw the passing of a British institution, Woolworths! So why is that noteworthy of Smart House Boy? Well I picked up on ex-employees selling off their uniforms on ebay.  Some even for the proceeds of a staff final party.

It’s kind of sad that the credit crunch, now a full blown recession here in the UK, is causing businesses to close up shop. Even more upsetting for the staff loosing their jobs; in some instances whole households losing their jobs (parents and teenage kids).

I have been tempted to add a uniform to my collection, but the Woolworths uniform was never one of my favourites. It was never quite smart enough to do it for me. It never came with a tie, just a red shirt and navy blue trousers. But is this the way of things to come with every business that goes bust selling off their uniforms on ebay?
